V-Mart on expansion spree

V-Mart Retail is a prominent value retailer, which primarily operates in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, with a chain of ‘value retail’ departmental stores offering apparels, general merchandise and kirana, catering to the entire family. Based in New Delhi, the company operations are spread across northern, western and eastern parts of India.  Recently,  company has announced that company will focus on fashion and lifestyle as these two are high margin segments, Speaking on expansion, Lalit Agarwal, CMD, V-Mart Retail said, “ We plan to open 60 new stores in next two years. Most of our new stores will have only apparels and lifestyle fashion products as they fetch better revenue margins. Of late we have been opening stores without food and grocery segment. Lately, V-Mart Retail has opened a new store located at K. D. Market, Kalibari Chowk, Makatpur Road, Giridih in Jharkhand. The store is spread in an area of 8,700 square feet. This takes the total number of stores to 80. V-Mart Retail is one of the pioneers in setting up stores across various small Indian towns and cities including Sultanpur, Ujjain, Motihari.
