Spencer's brings in Chad Valley toys in India
Spencer’s Retail, the retail arm of RPG Enterprises, launched the global brand Chad Valley toys and other related product ranges at its retail outlet at Kolkata. The shop was unveiled by Simon Brown, International Head, Woolworths, UK, and Sanjiv Goenka, Vice Chairman, RPG Group. The brand Chad Valley is owned by Woolworths, UK-based general retailer and entertainment distributor. The company sources reveal that they have the exclusive rights to retail the Chad Valley toys through their stores across India. This product line would be available in all its 400 retail stores nationally to begin with and even the convenience stores will carry the "essential range" in the next 2 months. "This is our first venture into Asian market," said Simon Brown on the occasion. "We are planning two to three stand-alone Chad Valley stores within the next 12-18 months through this exclusive tie-up with Spencer`s," added Simon. The exclusive stores will showcase the entire spectrum of toys available and have at least 500 SKUs. At the Spencer`s Chad Valley branded outlets, there will be 12 different product categories for babies, girls, boys, and games, craft, learning and outdoor products for the age group of 0 – 10 years. The brand’s core user group is being 0 – 6 years. The company insider also reveals that Spencer’s Retail is having plan a to acquire a retail space of 15,000 sq. ft by March 2009, and a significant market share of the international, organized toy brand segment in India today.
