Shoppers Stop opens “Stop & Go” store at Bangalore international airport

K Raheja group’s subsidiary Shoppers Stop recently launched its airport store `Stop & Go` at the newly inaugurated Bangalore international airport. Says V Shiv Kumar, CEO, Nuance India Pvt Ltd, "Stop & Go is typically a 100-125 sq. m. store focusing on fashion accessories like sunglasses, watches, writing instruments, jewellery, perfumes and cosmetics, gift products, luggage and travel accessories. The Indian consumer has hitherto lacked quality retail offerings at airports which are able to offer the best brands at the regular retail prices. Stop & Go is the format designed for all travel retail locations focusing on airports at the moment. In Bangalore airport we have a larger version under the brand name Shoppers Stop which offers additional categories like apparel, toys, etc." He continues, "We have two stores in Hyderabad and one in Mumbai at 1B domestic terminal. In Bangalore airport we have Shoppers Stop. While we cannot tell you how many stores would be opened, we are planning to be present in all new and refurbished airport terminals across the country and all the new terminals in all major domestic airports which are undergoing upgradation. It is not meant to be a format for high street." With the launch of this store, the group now owns a total of 129 retail stores under different verticals. These stores operate either as a part of existing stores, that is, in shop- in shop (SIS) format or they are stand-alone (SA) stores operating at a particular location. Following is a comprehensive list of different branded retail stores: Shopper`s Stop – 24, Homestop – 3, Arcelia – 2, Stop & Go ( Airport Retailing) – 3, MAC – 4, Brio/ Desi Café (F&B) – 25 (Of these, 2 are Food Courts), Clinique – 1, Crossword – 48 (SIS – 11, SA -37), Mothercare – 19 (SIS- 10, SA – 9). Apart from the above, the group also owns HyperCity (hypermarket format), Nuance (duty free shops) and Time Zone (interactive fun and entertainment centre for families).
