Mahindra’s to enter toy retailing

The Mahindra Group is the latest Indian corporate to embrace retailing. While the contours of their initiative are to be worked out, the Group has decided to stay away from the grocery sector.

The Mahindra Group is the latest Indian corporate to embrace retailing. While the contours of their initiative are to be worked out, the Group has decided to stay away from the grocery sector. The business will be initially routed through a group company, Mahindra Intertrade and subsequently hived off as a separate entity. Since the latter already holds licences for international toy brands Mattel, Lego, Walt Disney and Nickelodeon, it is speculated that the initial formats will focus on toys. People looking into the project include Raghunath Murti, exect Vice Chairman of Mahindra Intertrade and K Venkataraman, recently designated as CEO
