East West Ethnic Foods, the Bangalore based operator of the Kaati Zone fast-food chain, plans to raise Rs.60 crore through venture capitalist in five years to expand its presence in India and to enter the neighbouring countries. Last year too the company raised fund through a venture capitalist. However, the company is reluctant to reveal the name of the funding source but reports point to Google-backed Erasmic Venture Fund. Kaati Zone is an Indian Quick Service Restaurant that offers convenient service for take away as well as keeping provision for sit-in. Presently the company has 11 stores in Bangalore in major suburbs like Indira Nagar, Jay Nagar and Koramangala. This apart, they are also present in Central Business District, Electronic City and Technology Parks where the company has a large corporate clientele who order food from them on a regular basis. The company has been in the market for four years. Now it is planning to expand into cities like Hyderabad and Pune. They plan to have 25 company owned outlets this financial year at airports, petrol stations, high streets and malls that enjoy high footfalls. The company has struck a deal with Bharat Petroleum to open its outlets in the premises of petrol stations, thereby increasing its presence on highways.
