Golgappas, an item for organized retail

Ahmedabad-based Aravind Group will be introducing retail chain for selling golgappas or pani puris. With an investment of Rs.5 crore, the group is planning to set 500 small retail outlets across various cities like Vadodara, Rajkot, Mehsana and Bhavnagar in Gujarat. These stores will be all franchisee-operated. The group is also in a process to develop automatic vending machine for golgappas which will be installed at malls and multiplexes in Ahmedabad. For the project, the company has formed a separate company, Sindhwai Food Products Ltd., which will be funded through internal resources.
