Seattle-based e-commerce firm, Amazon has completed its acquisition of Dubai-based online retailer, Souq.com,

Souq.com said that users now could log into their website using their Amazon account.

According to a Souq.com statement, "The firms now would work on the next phase of the integration to bring more products and offerings to the region's customers even faster."

No sales price has been discussed for the deal, first announced in March. However, Dubai's state-backed Emaar Malls PJSC announced it made an $800-million bid for Souq.com in a filing on the Dubai Financial Market just before Amazon closed its deal.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Co-Founder & CEO, Souq.com, said, "It is an exhilarating time for the e-commerce industry in the region. Together with Amazon, our goal is to offer our customers the widest product selection, great prices, improved delivery times and first-rate customer service."

He said, "Integration of Amazon’s technology and global resources with our local expertise will help us to offer a great service to our loyal customers."

In buying Souq.com, Seattle-based Amazon will leapfrog into the crucial Mid-east markets of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, where the retailer already has local operations.
