What would be estimated market size of home lighting segment in India? What would be estimated share of Jaquar in same?

The Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India (ELCOMA) shares that the LED market in India is expected to grow to ₹216 billion by 2020. This leap will result in the LED market accounting for about 60 per cent of India’s total lighting industry (approximately ₹376 billion) in 2020.

Kindly shed light on your distribution model in online and offline space in India? What are the strategies to scale-up the distribution? Do you have your exclusive stores or plan to?

Most of the popular e-commerce websites have setups via which they can sell LED lighting. E commerce in lighting is currently at a very nascent stage at it will take some time before it moves to next orbit.  Jaquar also plans to have a similar setup in sometime from now. We however still prefer the conventional mode of distribution- with channel partners in all parts of the country, aiding in making direct sales. One may think that this method is no more conventional as channel partners now use a lot of innovative techniques in order to sell their products, which prove highly useful as they allow potential buyers the chance to first experience these lights– something that’s not possible while shopping online. These stores hence positively impact consumers who find it more comfortable to experience a nice lighting solution, while somebody supplies them with the right kind of knowledge.

We do have 22 orientation centers across India (to experience the product) which have all the products on display. Jaquar Lighting products are available Pan-India through a strong distribution network. There also are 20-22 exclusive Jaquar lighting stores which are in the pipe line.

Do you also provide lighting solutions to retail brands/Shopping centers? If yes, kindly provide your best case –study? Also shed light on your unique solutions to retail stores?

Ans: Numerous brands are coming up with chains due to manifold growth in the retail sector. Jaquarbeing a complete LED lighting solution provider has the portfolio to cater to it. We are closely associated with many known brands from Manyavar, Spencers, Forum mall, KFC, Dominos, Lulu, HyperChain and more. Jaquar is providing specific solutions in terms of Zoom lights, tracks lights, surface down lights, LED tubes, weather proof fittings, etc for these chains.

According to you what are the major faux pas that retailers make when it comes to store lighting?

The major faux pas that retailers make when it comes to store lighting is purchasing chinese brands and consideringlow  CRI products. Build on awareness level on quality and various feature lux and lumen and customer understanding is still low. Harp on quality and build on a narrative of our stater of the art factory and testing lab.

What are the major challenges when it comes to home lighting allied retailing?

The major challenges one faces is that as consumers are becoming more and more aware and being exposed to global trends, their expectations are also rising. Consumers these days are looking for products that are technologically advanced, energy efficient and are sensitive to the environment. Build on good and modern retail points are missing which can spread correct information and help customer make an informed decision.

Who do you see as your competition in this space?

We have a number of Indian & international brands in this segment and space for everyone to grow. We at Jaquar Lighting are continuously striving to create value and exceeding customers’ expectations in quality, delivery and cost effectiveness through continuous product innovation and cutting-edge technologies.

What is starting and exiting price point of your products?

Our prices are in line with market demand. We cater to a large audience as we offer ‘complete lighting solutions’, that has something for every price segment and category. We have lighting for premium, luxury and value segment category.

At last, mention your growth plans? What are our projections for upcoming financial year?

We are focusing on lighting in a big way. We are planning a second lighting plant near Delhi-NCR at a cost of Rs 150 crore to scale up the business and are targeting to turn the vertical into a Rs 1,000 crore business in the next 2-3 years.
