Pigeon Express launches Aangadia on Mobile app

Pigeon Express launches Aangadia on Mobile app

Launched in 2004, Pigeon Express Pvt. Ltd. It is the first inter-city courier with 100% online operations. .It has been one of the fastest growing Inter-city courier services that offers "Desk to Desk" couriering of documents, packages, parcels in compliance to satisfaction. Last year, Pigeon Express acquired the majority stake in logistics firm GoJavas . GoJavas was founded in 2013 and had clients such as Jabong, Fabfurnish, Lenskart and Healthkart. 

Now, Pigeon Express has revolutionized the traditional ‘Aangadia’ business by launching Aangadia on Mobile app. The application will​ ​help the delivery boys to grow and empower themselves as Entrepreneurs by registering on the app. The app will enable even the small time delivery boys to become entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the launch Anand Rai, MD, Pigeon Express said, “With ‘Aangadia’ the requirement of physically walking down to a courier office to book the percel will completely omitted. it’s a simple mobile application which can be downloaded from Google Play store.  Once the app is installed,  it can be browsed to locate nearby Angadia. And, once the shipment is picked the customer will get online tracking details  instantly alike to any courier service. “

The app is user friendly & can book the consignment in three simple steps.  Sender & receiver name, mobile no, email id, destination pin code, declaration by the customer about the product.  The app has an auto rate calculator in which the customer needs to enter the destination pin code & weight. Payment can be done through RTGS, NEFT, cash & credit card. Once the booking is confirmed, 3 way sms will be triggered to sender, to receiver & to the booking Aangadia followed by an email. On delivery, sms will be triggered to sender & receiver. The whole process will be tracked online.

This is a purely go GoJavas and Pigeon network initiative; and the company will not be using the human resource of any other company.  As of now, the company has deployed about 70 delivery boys for this service.  The company has started its operations from tier 1 cities but aims to be equally bullish on tier 3 cities.

“We have just started and we are already getting about 200-250 orders on daily basis,” informed Anand.

Speaking on the reach of the application he informed, “Pigeon is already operational in 89 cities and Go javas is available in 300 cities. Totally, we are covering about 2600 pin codes presently. For next one year we have the target to cover 7000 pincodes  pan India.”

The companyis tied with Spice Jet which is covering 47 cities as of now and going to cover many more cities shortly. 

Speaking on employment generation Rai said, “We would be focused on recruiting the local staff and will equip them with essential training.  There are three types of work one can do including KYC fullfilment, delivery and booking. There would be huge commission on booking.  There is a potential to earn Rs 25 to 30 thousand monthly. “

The company is also in-talks with many e-commerce companies to source the logistics part. “Beating the logistics hurdle is one of the biggest challenges for any e-commerce companyin India. The reach of e-commerce is still limited in terms of pin codes especially in tier 3 towns.  With Aangadia we are committed to change the scenario. " he informed. 

Aangadia app is launched with the association of Invest India.  It is a new set entity created by Indian government, which is responsible for all foreign investments to India. Also present at launch, Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India, said, “Logistics cost in India stands anywhere 10%-14% of GDP. However, the global average is 6% to 7%. The moment the cost touches down to 6%-7% just imagine the competitiveness  India will create. “

Going further he said, “We need to create 1 million jobs every month without stopping for next 15 years. That’s what our prime minister said 'we need a nation of job creators'. These are the start-ups which will make our country. These are the stories of new India.”

Concluding the launch Anand said, “Aangadia seeks to diversify the role of such executives so as to help them togain autonomy over their respective functional areas & creating Entrepreneurs. The action plan concurs with the nation-wide program of “Make in India” as it paves the way for self-reliance & sustenance’. “
