Tarun Tahiliani Couture Exposition, 2013

Couture designer Tarun Tahiliani is back with the fifth edition of the Couture Exposition which opened yesterday at The Pavilion, DLF Emporio. Titled “4Cs - Couture, Crystal, Craft and Carat”, the three day show will display Tahiliani’s wide range of stylish and sophisticated saris, anarkali, churidaars and embroidered lehengas with Swarovski elements along with groom’s wear. Tahiliani has also tied up with the World Gold Council to design their new collection, Tarun Tahiliani for Azva, a range of bridal jewellery. Tahiliani, who already has six exclusive stores in India plans to add more to his portfolio in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad and expand to the NRI market via internet as well. Speaking about wedding retail in India, Tahiliani commented, “Wedding retail is a big market in India, but most of it seems to focus on quantity rather than quality. It is a big market and it’s definitely growing and even designers who earlier kept away from bridal wear are realising that it’s a lucrative business. But while retail (in bespoke bridal wear) is growing and newer stores are opening, there is a need to make a ready to wear model out of it which would be less elaborate and better priced.” For the really high end segment, Tahiliani plans to open two “special” studios with bespoke couture in its best. “These are going to be beautiful. We will take it to the highest levels of couture”, promises Tahiliani. The fashion lovers are sure going to be happy.
