Kidswear retail chain Catmoss invests Rs. 500 crore for domestic expansion
Kidswear retail chain, Catmoss, is planning major expansion by taking its total retail outlets from 100 to 500 in India by 2010-2011 by pumping in an amount of Rs.500 crore. The brand’s target customers are in the age group of 0-14 years. The company focuses its expansion in tier II and tier III cities and apart from this has plans to make foray in the markets of Australia and Middle East. The Chairman of Catmoss Retail, Ashwani Chawla, informs that the company is planning to set up 20-25 retail outlets overseas in the cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Dubai and Abu Dhabi among others. This fiscal year, the company is going to invest Rs.50 crore to launch another 100 stores in India and realize overseas plan. To enter foreign market, Catmoss will strike licensing agreement with the correspondent business associates. In India, Catmoss has both the company-owned and franchised outlets. For franchise model, it requires Rs.15-20 lakh as an investment. For retail space, area requirement is 800 - 1200 sq. ft. at the hub of the cities. For selecting a prospective franchisee, it scouts for prime location and complete compliance of franchise agreement between the franchisor and franchisee.
