We don\'t follow conventional trends: Mayank and Eshaan, Zu Tisch
In a candid conversation with Indian Retailer, Mayank and Eshaan, founders of Zu Tisch, a German bistro bar, share their views on latest F&B trends and cross brand promotion in India:

Indian Retailer (IR): What innovation are you planning to bring in the F&B segment by augmenting this place?

Mayank and Eshaan (M&E): Our restaurant is based on the concept of German Bistro bar. We don’t follow the conventional trends, rather we have given it more of an European touch. We have jazz nights and much more that makes the ambience similar to that of a bistro found in European countries.

IR: How to plan to position your brand in the industry?

M&E: As Germany is famous for automobiles and football, we have plans to screen football matches to woo football lovers. Besides, we have recently struck a deal with Harley Davidson group, where we plan to promote Harley Davidson branding through our place.

IR: You have recently tied up with Harley Davidson group, how do you plan to proceed with this strategy of cross promotion?

M&E: There are about 70 to 80 bikers in the Harley Davidson group of people in Delhi, who go out for rides and brunches every Sunday. Soon these people will be associated with us and will be promoting our brand. We are among the first few pubs they have tied up with. In this way, we plan to top promote and cross promote each other’s brand. Also, we are planning to organise their events at place, which will not only promote our brand, but will also bring more traction.

IR: What are your expansion plans?

M&E: We look at it as a neighborhood pub, so we feel it is easier to open similar outlets at different places. As of now, we have not figured out where and when to expand, but expansion is on cards. We want to first set up this place and then we can move on with our other plans.

IR: What according to you is the latest trend in the restaurant business?

M&E: Nowadays, people are experimenting a lot with gastronomic stuff. In this industry, either you follow what others are doing or you do something different. Ours is a bistro bar, which we are promoting as a chilled out place based on a German bistro concept. We did not want to follow the conventional themes, rather we wanted to come up with a casual dining, where we will have jazz nites and give it a more classical touch.

IR: Are you looking for investors?

M&E: Surely. But first, we would want to set up this place and once there is a proper traction; then we can pitch in for funds.

IR: Being an IITian, are you planning to bring in some technological innovation in this segment?

M&E: Yes, we are surely working on a tech model which will be there in the coming months. Presently, we are working on an app, where people can track their order or pre book at a table and make payments.
